I’d love to hear if you have any recommendations for toddler crib blankets now that she’s old enough to have one. Thank you!

Hi, Laura — congrats! There’s no one right answer to this. Both my kids were born in December, and I’m up in Maine and it was always cold in our home. We often used feeties under a swaddle (I favored the Miracle Blanket, personally) — and another thing we did frequently was regular long-sleeved pajamas, the miracle blanket, then an Aden and Anais swaddle around that. (IOW, a double swaddle.) Lastly, and this may actually be the best option, a lot of people like using a winter weight sleep sack, which you can simply throw over a swaddle. We have a bunch of those here. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Would you put a sleep sack on top of a swaddle or vice-versa? Would you recommend fleece footed onesies under a swaddle instead or does the fleece not breathe enough for an infant? The only warm swaddle option I can find is the Halo fleece one, but I hated the velcro noise with my first (summer) baby. Thanks for any/all advice!

Hi Catherine! You will be using the same crib mattress for the crib as well as the toddler bed (if you plan to convert). In that case, the sheets will be the same.

Natalie — You’ll definitely want something to protect your mattress, whether it’s a pad or one of the waterproof mattress covers (they fit like a fitted sheet) we suggest! Good luck!
